A great day .......

Today...
I woke up early, excited over all that I get to do before the clock strikes midnight... the responsibilities to fulfill. I am important, my job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have...
Today....I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.
Today....I can feel sad that I don't have money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my expenses wisely and guide me away from waste.

Today....
I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive.

Today....I can lament over all that my parents didn't give me when I was growing up or I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.

Today....
I can cry because roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.

Today....I can mourn my lack of friends or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships.

Today....
I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.
Today...I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or I can feel honored because God has provided shelther for my mind, body and soul.

Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped.

And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.

What today will be like is up to me.

I get to choose what kind of day I will have.....

Enjoy.... Sardar Story

Santa and Banta Singh on a Double Decker Bus
Santa Singh and Banta Singh landed up in Bombay. They managed to get into a double- decker bus. Santa Singh somehow managed to get a bottom seat, But unfortunate Banta got pushed to the top. After a while when the rush is over, Santa went upstairs to see his friend Banta Singh.
He met Banta in a bad condition clutching the seats in front with both hands, scared to death. He says, "Are Banta Singh! What the heck's going' on? Why are you scared ? I was enjoying my ride down there ?" Scared Banta replies. "Yeah, but you've got a *driver.* "

Sardar at the archery contest
Once upon a time there was an archery contest.

The first archer, wearing a long cape covering his face, lines up in position. He takes a deep breath and fires an arrow, which finds the center of the target. Then he takes of his cape and screams: I AM…… ROBIN HOOD!!! The crowd cheers!
The second archer with a cape lines up in position. He fires his arrow, which hits the center and cuts Robin Hood’s arrow into two!!! He takes off his cape and screams: I AM…… WILLIAM TELL!!!!!! The crowd cheers!!
Finally our Santa in cape lines up in position. He fires his arrow but it goes all wrong! It flies past the crowd and kills the king!!! Then the man takes off his cape and screams:I AM…… SORRY

Sardar and the Nobel Prize
A man is driving down a country road, when he spots a sardar standing in the middle of a huge field of grass. He pulls the car over to the side of the road and notices that Santa is just standing there, doing nothing, looking at nothing. The man gets out of the car, walks all the way out to the sardar and asks him, “Ah excuse me sir, but what are you doing?”
Santa replies, “I’m trying to win a Nobel Prize.”
"How?” asks the man, puzzled.
”Well I heard they give the Nobel Prize to people who are out standing in their field.”

Santa and Banta were looking at an Egyptian Mummy at a museum.
Santa: Look so many bandages, pakka lorry accident case.
Banta: Yes you are right. See lorry number is also written BC 1760 !!!

'Pokok Tai'

A few hundred metres away from my parents' house in Sg. Korok, Alor Star. Used to be a row of 7 trees fronting a padi field. A nice view! Now there's only one left. When we were schooling those days, back in the 70s, we would passed these row of trees every morning to get to where we have to take the bus to school. We had to walk few hundred metres, ok, and that's not a short distance! But we had fun, walking very, very early in the morning. It was as early as 4.30 or 5.00 am! The only challenging times where when it rained or flooded. Huhh!!.... But we survived those challenging days, no matter what. More importantly, we had fun as school kids. Not sure if you asked any of our children these days if they would want to walk that far and wake up that early! And these row of trees also became our 'landmark' whenever we took the bus from Alor Star town back home. Whenever we saw these row of 'pokok tai', that would be the indication to alert the bus driver to stop. And missing the 'pokok tai' would mean the bus would stop further away from home. Seha, if you are reading this blog, you will remember all these and others, I supposed. Another thing, my mom used to make 'kueh bengkang' from these 'tai' fruits - orange in colour and the kueh was so delicious - our standard for that matter and in that point of time! Seha, do not mean to bring back any memories, especially the 'not so-nice' ones - but you had been a part of those growing up memories and to me are all 'sweet memories'. The sweetest memories of growing up.... Thank you, sis. Haiza would also remember these 'pokok tai'. She used to be a part of our morning rendevous as well.

Went back to Alor Star last December and snapped pictures of what's left before all is finally gone....

Footprints on the Heart

Some people come into our lives
and quickly go
Some people moved our souls
to dance
They awaken us
to a new understanding
with a passing whisper of their wisdom

Some people make
the sky more beautiful to gaze upon
They stay in our lives for awhile
leave footprints on our hearts
And we are never,
ever the same.....

New sandals... finally

Got myself new sandals, finally.... Told the girls I will blog about it. They were not impressed, and to them it's unbelievable I would do something like that. Girls, at least I just put the pictures!

And the above became 'house slipper'. Not mine, anyway. It belongs to Inessa. Wait till she wants it back!
